Ghost Hunter

So posting has been a little light lately. Jaques and I have both had new baby girls added to our already hectic lives and Dorf is…um…somewhere doing something probably really, really important. In between changing diapers there is there Little League baseball, work, Girl Scouts, mowing the lawn, helping the kids with homework, making supper, and countless other tasks that everyone else that reads this blog also have so I won’t bore you further.
However, admittedly most of my free time I would usually spend blogging is now consumed with playing Mario Kart Wii. My new addiction is racing other people’s online ghosts. When you do a time trial on a track you create a ‘ghost’ image of your time and run, then other people can try to beat you or you can try to beat their times. I am currently 40-3 in my ghost matches with my only losses coming on the tracks Moo Moo Meadows (twice) and Shy Guy Beach. My final verdict on the game is still out, but the online component definitely extends the gameplay.
Hopefully life will calm down soon and there will be more time to blog.

Are you using the wheel or the controller? I have mostly been playing with the wheel and so far, I haven’t had to curse it.
One complaint, and it isn’t about the game itself, it is hard to see the screen in multiplayer mode on my 27″ TV. I have had my eye on a larger TV but I don’t watch TV so it is hard to justify an upgrade.

I use the Wiimote. The best new feature: the addition of tricks. It feels so satisfying to flick the remote to a get a boast off a jump. The changes I don’t like are the deletion of the giant bananas and bowser shells and I liked having the dual kart riders. The combination of character specific items gave the game little more depth.
Retro tracks are great.
Just completed 150cc. I am not sure when I’ll get around to doing the mirror course. I still need a few 1-2 stars on 150cc which at this point I have little desire to do as the rubber banding with the items was extremely annoying.

Love the new look!
I for one have been watching my daughter’s Guitar Hero prowess go up to expert level these past few days.
